Things are Looking Up
These two are wooden toys my family and I found when going through our grandma's old boxes. One is a regular photo of a bird and the other one is in a color halftone filter. My grandmother loved birds, she has three bird feeders in front of our window so we can watch them eat. She spent the last of her days doing what she loved, watching the birds outside the window. Birds are symbolical in many cultures around the world as they commonly symbolize hope, freedom, and new transitions.
Pixel-like Shock
Judgmental Wolf
These photos are of another wooden toy of some sort of dog or wolf, the other photo is of the same wolf but with a crystallize filter. I do not know about what this wooden toy have been through but it looked like someone painted a little frown on it's long snout. Dogs have been in my life since day one. I was born into a family with a dog and now I even have my own dog. Dogs are genuinely good companions and don't necessarily judge you for your actions, unlike this one.
Crystallized Judgment
The Ram
I didn't know much about my Grandmother, only little bits of what she used to be like and her families stories. Her family was from Scotland. My theory about these toys was that they were made for my great grandmother or even before her. But she moved to the United States and lived in Michigan, making it through some tough times just like my grandmother. The ram symbolizes achievement.
Fuzzy Memories
Round Shells, Round Eyes
This wooden toy reminded me of my brother, much like his grandmother, he loves animals as well. He has his own tortoise named Burger. For birthdays I would choose to go kayaking with my grandma, as we would kayak we would find turtles sunbathing on logs and rocks. Though some others don't particularly like being active, I could tell my grandmother loved to kayak.
Taking a Peek
Brooding
This last wooden figure has my brain rattled. Perhaps it is supposed to be another dog with a hunched back or a coyote. Or even a cow with their big shoulders. Even though it is an odd animal, it still has a very sad look in it's yellow painted eyes. I wish I know what it is.
